• This master's programme is an offer for students who want to gain a licentiate on basis of the bachelor's degree in Theology according to the Roman Study Regulations (2 years bachelor's programme Philosophy and 3 years bachelor's programme Theology).
  • The modules 1 and 2 of the master's programme guarantee a general education in theological philosophy and religious studies.
  • The modules 3 to 5 offer the possiblity for an individual focus in accordance with your supervisor of your licentiate thesis.
  • We also provide set plans for the focus in your master's programme.
  • Students who want to graduate with a licentiate according to the Roman Study Regulations must pass the module M2b and complete 12 hours per week per semester in the modules M3 to M5 in the subject of your licentiate thesis. You will find further information in the Curriculum.
  • The University of Vienna confers the degree Master of Arts (MA)
  • The Faculty of Catholic Theology confirms - in accordance with the archepiscopal ordinariate - the equivalence with the licentiate on a seperate document
  • After graduating from the master's programme in Advanced Theological Studies students can enrol in the doctoral programme in Catholic Theology
