Services for new students
Orientation event
As a service, the Faculty of Catholic Theology offers its new students a workshop before the start of the winter semester that covers the following topics:
- Introduction to the faculty
- Contact persons at the faculty and the university
- How do I register for courses and examinations?
- Introduction to U:FIND, U:SPACE
- Information on study law
A computer will be available at the workshop, i.e. you can actively participate and, for example, register for courses under supervision if you have not already done so. The workshop script (including U:Find and U:SPACE step-by-step instructions) will be available for you to read in the download area after the orientation event.

First semester reception
The Faculty of Catholic Theology cordially invites you to the first semester reception on 1 October 2025 at 12:15 pm in HS 6, Main Building, Universitätsring 1 1010 Vienna.
Introductory and orientation period (STEOP)
The Bachelor-/Diploma programmes require you to complete an introductory and orientation period during the first semester. Only after the successful completion of the introductory and orientation period further exams of non-continuous assessement courses may be completed and courses with continuous assessment attended.
Mentoring: Accompanying course for the STEOP in Theology
Mentoring helps STEOP students to settle in and find their way around the degree programme and the university. It also serves to deepen the content of the programme and offers the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the STEOP courses. Learning techniques, time management, exam nerves and other practical issues relating to the degree programme are also discussed. Students' individual concerns are addressed.
