In the field of Interdisciplinary Studies, the University offers the Master's Programme in Theological Studies that can also be studied by students without a theological studies background in order to deepen their knowledge in an interdisciplinary field of theology (philosophy of religion, medical ethics, religious law, among others). For students who have acquired a bachelor's degree in ecclesiastical studies, the master's programme offers a study programme that can be adapted in a way that matches a Church Licentiate Degree. In the doctoral field, the PhD Programme in Theological Studies is offered.

From the winter semester 2025, the University of Vienna will be offering a new English-language Master's degree programme ‘Religion in Europe’ at the Faculty of Protestant Theology in cooperation with the Faculty of Catholic Theology, which is dedicated to the ethical, aesthetic and meaningful potential of religion and religious communities in European societies from an interdisciplinary perspective and teaches reflection, discourse and action skills in relation to religion-related social and political issues.
