It is possible to retake a STEOP exam three times. If your fourth attempt is not successful, your admission to the degree programme expires on the day of the exam. The student will be excluded from this degree programme and all degree programmes in which this examination is compulsory.

A readmission to the degree programme and to other degree programmes that require the completion of that exam at the University of Vienna is not possible.

Fourth attempt of retaking an exam: Registration

A board examination is taken before an examination senate, whereby the examination senate consists of at least three members. This is mandatory for the third resit (fourth attempt) of an examination, but can be requested for the second resit (third attempt) at the student's request.

In the case of continuous assessment courses, there is no board retake examination; the third retake takes place in the same way as the other retakes (by completing the course in full again).

As a rule, the last resit must be taken in the same way as the previous examinations. In the case of written examinations, it has proven to be a good idea to use a common regular examination date. The examination senate is not present during written examinations, but assesses the performance retrospectively. In the case of oral board examinations, the examination senate is present during the examination.
