PhD-/Doctoral Studies

The first step of the doctoral/PhD programme is the public presentation of the dissertation/PhD project to the faculty. Given that it has been successful, a doctoral thesis agreement will be settled between the student and the supervisor, which will be updated annually according to the progress reports.

Public presentation of dissertation project at the faculty

The dissertation/PhD project is to be presented to the public in the presence of the supervisor, the director of doctoral studies and the doctoral advisory board of the faculty at the end of the first academic year at the latest. If a student has been admitted subject to additional examinations (see also the notification of admission), these approval requirements are stated in the notification of admission as well as their fulfillment prior to the public presentation to the faculty.

Presentation procedure

After the presentation of the doctoral/PD project and a subsequent discussion, the Director of doctoral studies and the doctoral advisory board will decide whether to approve the project. The student and their supervisor will be informed of the decision via e-mail.
