PhD-/Doctoral Studies

The first step of the doctoral/PhD programme is the public presentation of the dissertation/PhD project to the faculty. Given that it has been successful, a doctoral thesis agreement will be settled between the student and the supervisor, which will be updated annually according to the progress reports.

Public presentation of dissertation project at the faculty

The dissertation/PhD project is to be presented to the public in the presence of the supervisor, the director of doctoral studies and the doctoral advisory board of the faculty at the end of the first academic year at the latest.  If you have been admitted on the condition that you take additional examinations (see letter of admission), it will state whether and which admission requirements must be met before the presentation to the faculty.

Presentation procedure

After your 10-minute presentation of the doctoral/PhD project and a subsequent discussion, the Director of doctoral studies decides on the approval of the project with the involvement of the doctoral advisory board. The student and their supervisor will be informed of the decision via e-mail.
